THE KING'S OWN CALGARY REGIMENT (RCAC)

Description

A silver shield with the cross Gules, with the maple leaf in its autumnal shades brocante loaded with a bison stopped on a terrace, with the top loaded with the local landscape at sunset, all natural, the shield crowned with the royal crown of the same, supported on the right by a horse and on the left by an ox, supported by a rose accompanied by clovers and thistles all natural, and three gold listels one on the other, that of the high inscription of the currency ONWARD and the two other inscriptions KING'S OWN CALGARY REGIMENT in letters of azures.

Symbolism

The crown represents the service rendered to the sovereign. The badge includes the shield, the horse, the ox as well as roses, thistles and clovers, inspired by the emblem of the City of Calgary, as adopted in 1902. "KING'S OWN CALGARY REGIMENT" is a variant of the regiment's name, "ONWARD" is the currency.
